Throughout Saint Francis Health System, volunteers add to the comfort and cheer of the sick, their families and visitors. Volunteers fill many roles within the health system and are valuable partners in the success of the health system.
Saint Francis Volunteers Make a Difference
Perhaps the biggest benefit received from volunteering is knowing you make a difference in someone's life each day you serve. Other benefits include both tangible and intangible items.
Tangible Benefits of Volunteering
There are many perks to volunteering at Saint Francis. These include:
- free, reserved parking
- complimentary meal each day you volunteer
- discounted membership to Health Zone at Saint Francis
- free flu shots
- invitations to several social activities throughout the year
Intangible Benefits to Volunteering
Many volunteers report additional benefits related to health and well-being.
Increased Confidence — Many volunteers encounter a variety of new challenges when they begin giving time in their communities. These new experiences boost their confidence in facing challenges in other areas of their lives.
New Friends — There is no better place to meet likeminded people than through volunteering. Working together to bring about a change is a great way to bond with others and stay connected long after the work is done.
Fun — Many volunteers are surprised how enjoyable it is to help others! Not every volunteer experience is the same; yet the chances of having fun increase when you volunteer in an environment that interests you.
Improved Health — There is evidence that volunteering can improve your health, building a stronger immune system and providing a heightened sense of well-being.
