Nurse Extern Program

Nurse Extern Program

The Nurse Extern Program is a shadow program designed for nursing students in their final year of an accredited RN program. Saint Francis offers three (3) programs annually: winter, spring and summer. An application and interview are required for all potential candidates.

Nurse Extern - Upcoming Classes

    • Program dates: December 16, 2024 – January 11, 2025 (full-time schedule required)
    • Application period: September 1 – 30, 2024
    • Program dates: January 6, 2025 – April 12, 2025 (part-time schedule required)

    • Program dates: June 2, 2025 – August 2, 2025 (part-time schedule required)

    Nurse Tech/CNA Training Program

    Nurse Tech/CNA Training Program

    Saint Francis has partnered with Tulsa Tech to deliver the Nurse Tech/Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program. This program is designed to train you to successfully perform the Nurse Tech duties within Saint Francis. After graduation from the program, you will be eligible for a nurse tech position within the Saint Francis hospitals. This training program will qualify you to take the Oklahoma CNA Certification exam. An application and an interview are required for all potential candidates. Applications will be accepted year round.

      Patient Companion

      Patient Companion

      Patient Companion is the title given to sitters at Saint Francis. The person in this role is responsible for sitting with patients that are on suicide precautions, have eating disorders, have an Adult Detention Order or are of harm to themselves or others.

      Saint Francis offers five (5) Patient Companion classes annually. The Patient Companion class provides eligible candidates paid training to employment opportunities. An application and interview are required for all potential candidates.

        Pharmacy Tech Trainee

        Pharmacy Tech Trainee

        The Pharmacy Technician Trainee role provides training (comprised of two phases, as approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy) to prepare individuals to work as a Pharmacy Technician. Phase I, the initial training, consists of learning about the pharmacy and its procedures. Once completed the trainee will test and apply for a permit. Only after receiving the permit will the trainee begin to complete Phase II, on-the-job training, which must be completed within ninety (90) days of receiving the permit.
