Saint Francis — Medicare Patient Information
It's Medicare Open Enrollment season. If you're 65 or older, October 15 through December 7 are very important dates for you. Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period occurs every fall and is designed to give new and current Medicare enrollees the ability to change their coverage.
If you're on Traditional Medicare, we accept ALL supplemental plans.
This is a time when those 65 or older can:
- Join a Medicare Advantage Plan
- Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan
- Join a Medicare drug plan if you're on Original Medicare
- Switch from one Medicare drug plan to another if you're in Original Medicare
If you're already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you have an additional period (January 1 – March 31) in which you can switch to another Advantage Plan.

Why should I pick a Medicare Advantage plan with in-network access to Saint Francis?
There are many benefits to choosing a plan with in-network access to Saint Francis.
Access to top ranked providers: In addition to Oklahoma’s best hospital as ranked by Us News & World Report, with Saint Francis as your health partner, you have access to the region’s most comprehensive and integrated networks of primary care providers, specialists, surgeons, mental health professionals and urgent care centers. Our regional presence allows you to get the care you need close to home.
Convenient after-hours care: When you need care after hours or when you’re distant to your care team, Saint Francis offers a comprehensive virtual care program including 24/7 virtual urgent care services that allow you to see a Saint Francis provider any time, day or night through an online visit.
Lower Costs: Another reason to make sure you choose an in-network Medicare Advantage plan is so that your out-of-pocket expenses will be lower when you’re treated at a Saint Francis facility or by a Warren Clinic provider.
I'm not 65 yet, when should I start the process to enroll in Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan?
Your initial Medicare enrollment period lasts seven months. You can sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan three months before you turn 65, the month of your 65th birthday and for three months after you turn 65.
If you have not enrolled in a plan during that window, you are still eligible, but you will need to wait until the annual election period to do so or utilize a special enrollment period that would be based on life events such as loss of existing coverage.
