Nurse Tech/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Nurse techs are a valuable part of a patient's nursing team. They assist in the inpatient hospital setting with procedural tasks, activities of daily living, vital signs, and general patient care. They work under the supervision and guidance of nurses and have a direct impact on patient care and satisfaction.

Training Requirements

Nurse techs must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and complete one of the following training pathways:

  1. Successful completion of a certified nurse aide (CNA) or patient care technician (PCT) training program
  2. Completion of six (6) months medical assistant (MA) experience in a primary, specialty, or urgent care setting
  3. Active enrollment in a collegiate nursing program with at least one (1) semester of clinicals complete
  4. Successful completion of the Saint Francis Nurse Tech/Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program through Tulsa Tech
