Saint Francis Hospital South celebrated the "topping out" of its $258 million expansion project on Wednesday.

"True to the commitment that our founders, Mr. and Mrs. William K. Warren, Sr., made back in 1960 when Saint Francis began, we responded to the needs of our community," said Saint Francis Hospital South President Todd Schuster at a ceremony that included employees and construction workers on the project.

"Just as our community has grown, Saint Francis Hospital South is now growing," he said. "We are humbled to continue Mr. And Mrs. Warren’s vision and Christ-centered mission of serving others."

The ceremony celebrated the placement of the highest beam in the project, which will add 283,600 square feet of new and 51,000 square feet of renovated clinical space to the hospital. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
