The Children’s Day Hospital (CDH) collaborates with community pediatricians and specialists to provide an option for children requiring additional treatment beyond the scope of an office visit. Patients can avoid emergency rooms and hospitalization for illnesses like asthma exacerbation, dehydration, observation and more.
The clinic is located on Level AA of the Saint Francis Children's Hospital and staffed by pediatric-trained, PALS and APHON-certified nurses who provide immediate care, close monitoring and observation for pediatric patients.
The nurses collaborate with the hospitalists, specialists and pharmacists to provide individualized treatment plans for acute and chronically ill patients.
Convenient Outpatient Care
The CDH is designed to provide easily accessible, convenient outpatient care for a wide range of outpatient services which include:
- Hydration therapy, IV antibiotic infusions, immunoglobulin therapy, enzyme replacement therapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, central venous catheter and PICC line care, nebulizer breathing treatments, Iron infusions and blood transfusions.
- Sedation procedures – bone marrow aspirates and lumbar punctures
- Assisting the pediatric outreach phlebotomist to provide atraumatic lab draws by utilizing the J-Tip, a fast-acting, needle-free, topical anesthetic injection device.
