Inpatient Care

Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital provides inpatient psychiatric services to adults and seniors experiencing severe symptoms of a mental health or chemical dependency disorder. Individuals considered appropriate for admission are those who are a danger to self or others; someone who requires a medically supervised detoxification program to withdraw from drugs and/or alcohol; or someone who is unable to manage his/her care due to a psychiatric condition. Patients may be admitted either on a voluntary or involuntary basis.

Types of Inpatient Care Available at Laureate

Laureate offers different levels of inpatient care in order to better serve the specific needs of patients. Families are encouraged to participate throughout the treatment process. Length of hospitalization may vary depending upon diagnosis, age of the patient and the severity of illness.

The Stabilization Care Unit

Designed to care for patients who are highly agitated and may become aggressive or confrontational, this unit specializes in treating patients who may have complicated mental health histories with multiple diagnoses and may have experienced multiple courses of treatment or hospitalization. This program features a structured environment focusing on safety, symptom management, medication stabilization and life skill development.

The Behavioral Care Unit

Patients experiencing acute symptoms related to depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD, trauma and other behavioral health issues will benefit from this unit. Care is provided in an environment in which patients are encouraged to participate fully in programming. Patients will focus on positive coping skills while addressing challenging emotions, behaviors and life situations that impact their quality of life.

The Progressive Care Unit

This unit, only one of its kind in Oklahoma, is designed for patients who are highly motivated, ready to make life changes and generally physically healthy. It encourages a calm setting, free from aggressive or disturbing behaviors, where patients feel safe to actively work on issues impeding their overall health.

Continuing Care After Discharge

Discharge planning, including follow-up services/appointments and aftercare arrangements, is an integral part of each phase in order to address any continuing treatment needs. Attention is given to such issues as the patient's living situation, follow-up treatment from care providers, continued medications, need for individual family or marital therapy, use of leisure time, and job and vocational needs, as appropriate.
