Saint Francis Genetics provides pediatric telegenetic services to help diagnose, treat and prevent birth defects, structural abnormalities, inherited diseases, chromosomal abnormalities and cognitive impairment.
Pediatric Telegenetics at Saint Francis
Our geneticist will host appointments with you and your family via video conference. These evaluations will help to identify genetic diseases, to establish appropriate genetic testing to diagnose or rule out a particular condition, and to coordinate genetic counseling before and after testing is pursued. Our genetic counselor is present during your appointment to schedule testing and further care.
Referrals are made to the pediatric telegenetics clinic for a variety of indications, including children who have:
- One or more birth defects
- Unusual features that may indicate a genetic condition
- A diagnosed or suspected genetic condition
- A family history that might put them at risk for health problems
Examples of genetic syndromes that are seen in the genetic clinic include chromosomal rearrangements, Down syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome (22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome), Fragile X syndrome, Marfan syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, Turner syndrome and Williams syndrome.
