Adult Program

Adult Acute Care

Our acute level of care serves women with eating disorders who need close supervision for psychiatric and/or medical reasons.

Acute Care Highlights

  • Sessions with Katherine Godwin, M.D., board-certified psychiatrist
  • 24-hour nursing care provided on a secure eating disorders-specific unit
  • Medical monitoring with testing and labs as needed
  • Medical and psychological stabilization
  • Therapist-led groups in addition to individual and family therapy
  • Nutritional assessment and therapy
  • Private and spacious bedrooms with box window seats and private bathrooms

Medical Assessment

During this phase of care, emphasis is placed on safely establishing physical and psychological well-being. Physicians personally assess each patient daily and, in concert with 24/7 nursing services, provide necessary care to ensure medical stability and nutritional rehabilitation.

Because our program is small and has the clinical expertise, we can care for more medically complex women. Our board-certified physicians, advanced practice nurses and nursing staff oversee treatment for medically complex patients so they may participate in therapeutic programming while stabilizing their health.

Therapeutic Programming

In addition to medical interventions, patients participate in all aspects of the therapeutic program with other women from every level of care. Therapeutic programming includes individual psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy, nutrition therapy and psychoeducational groups.

Residential Care

Once a patient is psychologically, nutritionally and medically stable, she can transition to our residential level of care. Patients may remain in the acute-care unit or move to Canyon Creek, a supervised, cottage-style living environment on the Laureate campus.

Residential Program Highlights

  • Sessions with Katherine Godwin, M.D., board-certified psychiatrist
  • Supervised therapeutic meals and social outings
  • Daily therapist-led groups in addition to individual and family therapy
  • Nutritional assessment and therapy

"Real World" Treatment

During residential treatment, each woman continues to participate in the full treatment program and meet with Dr. Godwin on a routine basis. In addition, she will participate in supervised off-campus meal outings and social outings, both of which encourage development of self-management in "real world" settings.

Partial Hospital Care

Our partial hospital level of care is for women who have demonstrated growing responsibility for their own recoveries and who are medically stable.

Partial Hospital Program Highlights

  • Sessions with Katherine Godwin, M.D., board-certified psychiatrist
  • Therapist-led groups in addition to individual and family therapy
  • Nutritional assessment and therapy

Day-to-Day Responsibility

Participation in the full treatment program and weekly physician meetings continue, but patients take more responsibility for their day-to-day care. Adult patients usually continue living on campus at Canyon Creek.
